In The Demon's Head #180: Through The Ages
March 10, 2014
Welcome to another edition of "In The Demon's Head" It's Monday and that means it's back to the grind for most of us. That includes me but before I get back to the grind, I wanted to share a new post. Below is the picture that inspired the post. I hope that you enjoy the post and I'd love to see your thoughts on it at the end.

Through The Ages
On the wall,
The door,
I opened it,
And beyond it,
I saw things,
That I couldn't understand,
There were steps,
That lead outward,
Platforms,
That lead downward,
Like a road,
I walk,
And I realize,
That I'm in the very late past,
Back when Dinosaurs roamed,
I watched,
And slowly,
The sky lit up,
And the fireball rained down,
Destroying everything,
I leaped,
From one platform to the next,
And there,
I saw the American Revolution,
In fast forward,
As I learned how America captured its independence,
I leaped forward again,
And I watched the civil war,
Amazed,
At how such a young nation,
Almost destroyed itself,
I leaped forward again,
And I watched Watergate unfold,
Then again,
And September 11th,
I stopped and stared,
Watching the towers hit over and over again,
I knew that I was getting close,
To where I was at in life,
And was afraid to leap forward again,
Not knowing what would be on the other side,
Wondering if I really wanted to know,
I took a deep breath,
And closed my eyes,
And leapt,
As I landed on the next platform,
I noticed a clock up in the corner,
It moved quickly going,
And I noticed a wasteland,
Of what America used to be,
Only now,
It was ashes,
The sky was yellow,
Caked with clouds,
The people,
Or what was left,
Of the people,
Were slowly dying,
I knew it was a warning,
Of where we were heading,
I blinked,
And it was over,
I was staring back at the wall,
That started it all,
And I couldn't bring myself to believe,
That what I had seen was true,
I took a deep breath,
And wiped the sweat from my brow,
And sat,
Praying that what I had seen was only a dream,
But my brain,
And my heart knew better,
And hoped,
That things would change for the better,
Afterward
I saw this picture and immediately came to this idea. I love where it went and I had the idea for the ending all along. This was one of those pieces that formed in place from the very beginning. I'm happy with the way it turned out and I hope that you like it.
I'd like to remind you to pick up a copy of "Within The Walls" which is available for only 99 cents. You can find it, as well as the rest of my available work in my library. Do you like to be social?
