In The Demons’ Head: Confessions of a Starving Author
January 7, 2017
If you’ve seen my picture anywhere at all then I’m sure that you’re aware of, and can completely agree, I’m not starving at all. However, I titled this post that for a couple of reasons that I’ll explain a little bit later on in this post. Regardless, the fact is that I’m just shy of entering my fourth year of writing this blog, and I’m almost 300 post in. That’s a whole lot of words, and a whole lot of ideas that have come and gone through the pages of this blog.

But it’s not just the blog. As the time has progressed, I’ve also written thousands of words in both poetry, short fiction, and a few attempted novels. The fact is that for a long time I didn’t consider myself a writer, and I did what most people who don’t consider themselves a writer do, I didn’t write.
In fact from 2012 where I released “More Than Memories” to 2013 when I released “Blackout”, “Within The Walls” and then “Paper Dolls” in 2014, I realized a couple of things: I was making no progress, and I was procrastinating and putting this all on hold. The question became, What For?
I didn’t know. Then one day while I was working at my old job I realized that I needed to get my ass into gear, in fact it was worse then that, I needed to make sure that I wasn’t stuck doing that job for my entire life, and to be honest my only way out was through the words that I wrote.
So I sat down, reassessed my life goals, and put my ass in the chair as people are prone to say. That’s because if you don’t have ass in chair time, then it’s likely that you don’t get things done as efficiently as you should. As was the case with me. And what do you know? I didn’t get things done as efficiently.
Then at the start of 2015 I realized that I needed to get things done, and I needed to write more. So in 2015 I sat down and wrote 3 novels, and then that stretched into 2016, where I managed to pen two more novels brining the total to 5. However, 3 of those haven’t seen the light of day, and it’s likely they won’t.
That’s because they’re bad enough they need complete rewrites. But I’ve spent the last four years learning, A LOT. I’m trying to learn as much as I can, and I can tell you that after finishing that 5th novel last December. I’m a better writer, I can tell that, a better storyteller, and better at delivering these things to you guys.
The last four years has been a road of ups and downs, a lot of situations where I get depressed, or angry because I’m not where I feel I should be along this journey. However, life has taught me that if I’m going to make this dream a realistic one, then I’m going to have to chase it, and I’m going to have to work for it. Because otherwise, I’ll be stuck living a normal life until I retire, and if you know anything about me, you know that’s a death sentence which is why I’m trying to hard to get out of it.
Here’s to a lot more years in this business I hope. Thank you guys for taking the time to be a part of this blog. It really does mean a lot to me. With that said I hope that ya’ll will take a moment to read the Synopsis and maybe give my debut novel “LeatherBound” a read either as part of Kindle Unlimited, or a pre-order, so you’ll have it when it releases Jan. 23.
Be sure to give me like on Facebook, a Follow on twitter, and if you’re real adventurous sign up to my mailing list. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demons’ head, I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
