In The Demon's Head #142: Doorways to Nowhere
July 22, 2013
Hello everyone, it's been a week since my last post. Sorry about that, but it's been one hell of a busy week. The best thing though, I'm adjusting to the job, so the writing will continue and that includes this blog. I'm very excited that I'm nearing edition #150. Kind of a shock to know that I've done that many posts for a blog. That's enough of the catching up for today, let's take a look at today's picture.

Doorways To Nowhere
Ages,
It seems they've passed before me,
As I stumble my way through this hell,
Dry,
Humid,
During the day,
And freezing,
Nipping,
During the night,
Every day I walk until the soles of feet,
Are bloody,
When I sleep,
I cry,
And awake,
A new man,
It's a reset process,
That I'm damned to repeat,
All in search,
Of the stairway of eternity,
Where it leads,
Is beyond me,
But it's said,
That the door,
Will lead you,
To a world,
Only of your imagination,
So I search,
As I have for years
****
It's finally happened,
I stand at the foot of the stairwell,
It has to be,
It's the only staircase,
I've ever seen,
That ascends into the heavens,
I'm taking each step one at a time,
Climbing,
Ever higher,
Finally I reach the door,
It's oak finish,
Hangs in midair,
As if suspended by some,
Invisible wall,
The steps feel cool under my feet,
As if the blood is slowly feeding them,
It's grand,
With each step,
I feel more vindicated,
And finally the door,
Lays in front of me,
I grip the handle,
Turn,
And go headlong in,
I hit the sand,
And look forward,
Slowly everything was fading,
My memory almost gone,
And the journey began again,
As I look for the stairway to eternity.
About The Piece
This piece is inspired in part to rather famous piece of work by Stephen King. Avid readers of his will notice, and if you don't I don't want to spoil anything for you. The fact is this piece is something that interested me and I very much enjoyed it. I hope that you enjoyed reading it as well. Feel free to leave a comment in the section below.
