In The Demons’ Head: Filling An Empty Void a Project Leaves
March 11, 2017
Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of “In The Demons’ Head” First off I want to apologize for this post being later then it should have been. I have no excuses other then I had a chaotic work schedule and didn’t have a chance to sit down and write it. In fact this was supposed to go live last night but I failed and didn’t have the means and chance to write it. As I’ve written in the past, some time soon I’ll be switching to a new job, and it will hopefully free up quite a bit of time. But enough on what is to come in the next few weeks, for today let’s talk about the subject at hand, and that’s filling a void left by a project you just completed.

Now I know what some of ya’ll are thinking. How is it possible to have a hole created by a fictional project that you yourself created. First off, if you think that then you’ve never been a creative before in your life. Which means you’ve probably never finished a project, thus never knew what it felt like to have this feeling wash over you. That said though, if you have experienced this feeling then it’s likely that you’ve found yourself in that exact situation where you go, “What the fuck do I do with myself?”
Honestly, the answer might surprise you, and it might even sound a bit of a kick in the ass at the same time. That answer is, write the next thing. I know that sounds crazy and shit, I haven’t even been able to get myself motivated enough to actually write consistently in almost two months, but the fact is, I’m working my way that direction. In fact I’m in the midst of trying to edit this new story that I was working on and while I still have every intention of wrapping it up by months end, I’m not sure if I’ll get there but I’m hoping that I can.
So then what? What the hell do you do after that because let’s be honest, you don’t really know. Unless it’s a series, you’re not really sure what the next book is you should write. For me that’s the point I’m in now, not because I have a shortage of ideas, but because I have to try and fit what I can into the windows of writing time that I have. Some of these ideas are very research heavy and right now I don’t know how well I could pull them off while still working a regular job. So Instead, I’m trying to find stories that aren’t quite as heavy on research and are more lets drop shit and write this story. I have a couple of ideas in mind but I’m still not sure what the next novel I’m going to write is.
I can tell you that the next novella I’m going to write is an extension off of the book I’m currently editing and will become an instant freebie once the book drops later this year. That’s the plan at least. The ideas is that people care enough about my bad guy that they want to read a little more about his beginnings, that maybe he wasn’t always the bad guy?
In the mean time I’m doing what I can to write these post. That’s another alternative; if you haven’t started one yet work on a blog. You can do whatever you want, write whatever words you want, fuck you post naked pictures of yourself on there to attract people if you’re into that kind of thing. (Personally I am not.) All kidding aisde, if you haven’t created a blog, do so. Because it’s one of those middle grounds you can use when you are struggling for ideas, and want to put words on paper. The next step is to hit the publish button if you go that route. Which is what I’m about to do for this post. Always keep moving forward, the idea is to always move forward and get better.
I’m sorry I’m late on this and I promise that soon this will become a thing of the past. Next week, I’m going to be taking on another subject, about always being willing to improve and learn. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demons’ head I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
