"It Can't Be You"
"Hello Brother."
I stood dumbfounded,
Trying to wrap my head,
Around what she had said,
Brother,
I didn't have a sister,
Not anymore,
She had died,
Years ago,
I peered up into her face,
I saw a resemblance,
But I didn't want to,
I didn't want to believe,
That she could be alive,
That she was right here in front of me,
"It can't be you"
Was all I could manage to say,
She laughed,
"But it is me,
All those years ago,
When you thought that I had died,
I stumbled through the same rabbit hole,
That you did,
But what I found on the other side,
Was a sprawling land,
Something that our own world,
Would have looked like,
If people hadn't destroyed it,
I meet a few people,
Who took me in,
And that was where I stayed,
Until the day that my friends here took over,
I wasn't a complete idiot,
I knew what they were doing,
And I knew that if I didn't surrender myself to them,
Then I'd likely end up dead,
So I did just that,
They took me in,
And at first,
They didn't think my intentions were true,
But I earned their trust,
And slowly they came around,
And now,
All I have to do is give the word,
And they will go into battle for me,
Because that's the type of creature they are,"
I sat in silence,
"But why didn't you come home?"
She sat and was quiet,
"I tried at first,
I found the hole by accident,
Much like you did,
But I learned there was no way home,
So I gave up,
Much like you did,
And now I've been waiting for today,
For a very long time,
I have no urge to kill you,
I want you to see,
That I want to help you,
I want you to be a part of this as well,
That we can be a team,
But you'll have to trust me,
Will you trust me?"
I looked around,
And surveyed the damage,
I was one of the only ones left standing,
I didn't feel that I had much of an option,
So I looked up at her,
And nodded,
About The Piece
As of today, I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel for this particular arc. I didn't really know where or how to get to where I wanted to go but I think that I now have an idea, and I think it's going to turn out to be pretty badass once it's done.
I'll be back Monday with another piece in this epic saga, until then be sure to sign up for the mailing list and share your thoughts on this, or any other piece in the comments section. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demon's head, I'm Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
