In The Demon's Head #157: Locks
August 30, 2013
So another week comes to an end, and three more post have found their way onto the blog. I'm glad that you guys are enjoying the blog here and I hope that I continue to give you good things to read as we move toward the end of the year. Also, with "Blackout" being released last Monday, I'm going to be starting another project for the end of the year, and it's one I hope to do every year but we'll have to see. Check the end of this post for that announcement. For now though, let's take a look at today's picture.

Locks
I found the drawing one day on my way home,
It was crumbled up,
And left on the side of the road,
It was sheer accident that I picked it up,
And when I looked at it,
I couldn't stop thinking,
What it was that was drawn there,
The more I thought about it,
The more I realized,
That what I was looking at,
Was an invention,
Was the combination,
To something,
That I had never seen,
I started to look,
And look,
And one day,
While walking the path to my house,
I saw something,
In the distance,
It was a door,
That seemed to hang in mid-air,
I had never noticed it before,
But today,
It shone brightly,
And hung out for me to see,
I walked to the door,
And engraved on it,
Was the pattern from the drawing,
I began to trace the pattern,
And when I was finished,
The door creaked open,
Behind it,
Stood the skies,
That stretched for miles,
I couldn't explain it,
But I saw things behind that open door,
That I will never be able to explain,
I never crossed the threshold,
I just watched from the distance,
Finally,
I closed the door,
And it fell,
I couldn't believe what I had seen,
My nightmares still wake me,
And I can only hope,
That I didn't do something horrible,
By closing that door,
I don't know how,
Or why I think that,
But in my heart I do,
About the Piece
This was one of those that wasn't organic, and I had to think it through, I enjoyed the direction and everything within the piece though and I hope that you did too.
Remember that you can sign up for my mailing list, you'll receive a free exclusive piece, a subscription to the blog, and other offers and things that may come your way. Also, if you haven't done it yet, check out the Library for links to your retailers of choice carrying "Blackout"
Speaking of which, I'd like to announce my next project that will be coming out in the middle of December. It's entitled "The Best Of The Demon's Head Volume 1" You guessed it, this book will be packed with my favorite pieces and post from this blog over the past year. I may also go in depth on some of the ideas on how they came to be and where the idea comes from. The best part is that this collection is Free. I feel it's a good way to bring my blog off this page and into the world. I'll keep you up to date as the project moves along.
Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell, and into the demon's head, I'm Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
