In The Demon's Head #226: My Holy Shit Moment Pt. 2
June 19, 2015
Welcome to another "What the hell did I wake up next to" edition of In The Demon's Head. If you missed my post on Wednesday be sure to check it out before you read this one. If you do, it will make some sense. In a nutshell, I explained what happened when I had an epiphany while at work one day. However, there is a moment that I still want to discuss that I'd like to call my Holy Shit Moment.

Before I get to that I'd like to explain how I came to that moment. It started when I realized that I liked to rant during work about a number of things. This included co-workers, stupid people, and things that generally pissed me off. I realized one day while talking to some people that a lot of folks laughed when I went on these rants.
It lead to the idea that I might start a weekly podcast. Nothing major, just a few minutes every week about how things that week had pissed me off, or maybe some news, things of that nature that really just kind of hit me the wrong way. The more I thought about it the more I really wondered if anyone would give two shits about what I had to say during a podcast of that style.
It was during that time that I started watching a show entitled "Californication" If you haven't watched it, I'd suggest you do. But, do it when the kids are in bed, there are a lot of non-kid friendly things on this show. However, the idea behind the show and the driving story of the show is absolutely amazing.
The show is about a professional writer named Hank Moody. He is one of those characters that I can't help but associate with. I mean the guy is a giant asshole who hates a lot of things. He's blunt, straight forward, and ends up pissing off a lot of people. I realized that without the drugs, and the numerous sex partners, I'm a lot like Hank and I'm perfectly okay with that.
During the second, or third episode Hank gets a job writing for a blog. He basically just shares his thoughts on the world around him and a lot of different things. I absolutely enjoy the idea of the blog that Hank writes among other things.
It was during one of these episodes of "Californication" that I realized that I wanted to do things a little different with this blog in general and my writing. In fact, I've spent the last three years running with the slogan "I Write with an Edge and I aim to give you nightmares." In fact, the only Edge I ever really wrote with was the blunt end of a bullshit train.
The fact is that I really liked the way that Hank presented myself, and this show, and a podcast called the Self Publishing Podcast taught me that the world can handle politically incorrect people and not completely hate them, and that if they do then fuck them. I've spent the last three years writing this blog and being as nice and correct as I can be and the reality of it all is that's not me. In fact, I've been called the biggest asshole most people know for quite a number of years now and I just never put it out there for the viewing public to see.
The time has come, and the chains are off.
I've spent the last three years writing these post and trying to be as correct as possible and I've reached a point where I don't think that is me anymore and I don't want to do that. Will that piss people off? I'm sure some, and others will likely not read another word of these pages, and I'm okay with that to.
SO THEN WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN FOR THIS BLOG!
It means that going forward it's not just about writing, it's not just about me, it's not just about anything specific. The world has evolved I'd like to follow. The fact remains that this blog is the biggest vehicle of my writing platform and it's finally time that I utilize it to my full potential.
Join me on Monday for a brand new post. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demon's head I'm Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface. Be sure to join me on Social Media byclicking here. Also, sign up to the blog by clicking here.
