In The Demon's Head #144: Prettier in Paint
July 24, 2013
Hello everyone, it's nice to have you aboard the crazy train. It's Wednesday which means we're heading straight toward the weekend on a fast track. This is never a bad thing. It feels good to be back behind this computer this week though I'm slightly stressed out. I'm attempting to find an editor for the last part to my novella "Blackout." I can only hope that this situation will solve itself. Though right now I'm sick of worrying about it, let me show you today's picture.

Prettier in Paint
The paint,
Isn't paint at all,
The soles of my feet,
Tell a story,
The rest of my body has lived though,
That paint,
Is really the remains,
Of the beatings I took,
Confused,
Good,
The paint,
Is my bruises,
I know it's hard to understand,
But life is funny sometimes,
I look at this picture now,
And all the colors,
Make everything seem so happy,
But it wasn't happy,
Not at all,
In fact it was hell,
Every night my dad would come home,
And he would hit me,
I'd cry,
And he'd swing again,
Until finally,
It all ended,
And I never cried again,
I didn't die,
They took me away,
Locked me inside a home,
With other "Normal" people
Those people tended to be more fucked up then I was,
In fact,
And now,
As I look back at the world,
That was,
I'm lucky to have made it out,
Alive,
My mom and dad went and disappeared,
I'm okay with that,
Because I know where they are,
Exactly where I left them,
At the bottom of the well in our old backyard,
That's the kind of thing that happens,
When you try to color the bruises,
To make them prettier in paint,
About the piece
Originally, I almost didn't do this picture. I personally didn't see the story that it had to tell and didn't like what I had come up with. Enter Liz. She gave me the basic concept for the idea that you just read, and I ran with it. If anyone should really take credit for this particular piece, it's my wonderful soon-to-be wife Liz Butler.
You can connect with me through a number of different channels. To pick the one you like best click here. Also, don't forget to sign up for the mailing list. It's free and you'll get tons of free things in the process, really seems worth it to me. These freebees include the story "Duke" which is an interesting twist on a love story. Check it out and share your thoughts.
Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demon's head, I'm Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
