In The Demon’s Head #235: Shit Rolls Downhill
August 17, 2015
Hello world, I hope that this post finds you happy and healthy on the first half of your week. This post is one of those interesting post that looks at things from a different perspective of not only my business, my writing, and where I picture my future going. I mean after all most of the time its true what they say shit rolls downhill.
So this post actually started spinning in my mind when I went to see a friend of mine about a business opportunity. During this meeting we went back and forth talking about different stuff. One of those things was the structures of business, including his own. Now, I’m not going to divulge the name of my friend or his business but let me give you a little background.

Pyramid Schemes
Most of the people who have stumbled upon this website, or are reading this post in one form or another know exactly what I’m talking about when I say Pyramid Schemes. Avon, Scentsy, Rainbow, just to name a few. There are a lot of sales driven company that work in this manner. In a nutshell, you work helping earn money for someone above you, they do the same for someone above them, and so on.
Now when it’s in writing, I don’t think that it quite hits the same notes as you say it out loud. But, something he said to me that night made me realize something kind of huge.
A lot of those pyramid schemes get looked on negatively for one reason or another. Usually because your selling things to help out those above you and so forth. I brought this up to him, and he said these exact words and it threw me. “What’s different between what I do and what you do? You work everyday to get a paycheck, and your working to make those above you money. Those people work to make money for those above them and so on, all the way to the top. The only way you’re not working in a pyramid scheme is if you’re at the top. In my situation I’m at the top.”
I had never thought of It that way and told him that. He then added, think about it. “Shit rolls downhill. Those above you are getting told that you’re not being good enough, so they’re getting yelled at, then you’re getting told about it, and things of that nature.”
Those two sentences really struck a cord with me, and I realized at that point that he was right. It was also at that point that I realized one way or another I wanted to be the guy who was at the top, no matter what it was that I did.
How Did this affect my writing?
This entire thing made me realize that I wanted to drive even harder in my writing. I wanted to push even further, even faster, to get my words out so that people would be able to read, and hopefully enjoy them.
I realized that this writing career wouldn’t get off the ground without pushing, I had to push and make sure that I’d be able to stay on track to finish my books so that they will be out on time for you to enjoy.
I’ll have specific dates of release a little later this year but as it stands right now, I am intending to release at least three novels next year. Future plans are still in the works but I hope to have more information soon.
Shit does roll downhill, but guess what if you stand on top of that hill, you can choose who and where it rolls. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demon’s head, I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
