What’s up everyone, I hope that this finds you well. As most of you are likely aware, a couple of months ago, I started writing new post for the Demon’s Head blog. However, in order for you guys to understand exactly what direction this blog is heading, I’d like to explain to you where I’ve been.
At the end of 2015 I decided that I wanted to start a more topical blog. Not because this blog was “boring” to write, but because I wasn’t sure exactly how to work the blog in the favor of something I could publish more of. So I decided to start a blog entitled “Might as Well Say Fuck It!”
That blog lasted for about 3 weeks. I had the idea that it would work very similar to the Daily Show. I wanted to do something that would be both topical, and available to publish every single week. However, trying to keep up with that blog was a giant pain in the ass. I wasn’t able to keep up with the publishing schedule that I put on myself. It made things difficult and I found myself trying to do things that were both complicated, and difficult to get published and ready to go. With that said, I ended up putting it on the back burner after only a few editions.
Then the past 6 months, I started to work on stories, poetry, and novels. And while I did all of that I didn’t do a lot on sending emails to my mailing list, or keeping in touch with people through this blog. That was until about a month or so ago. It was then that I started to develop an editorial calendar and that’s helped me get to where I can set out a publishing schedule. That’s a positive right?
So now that leads me to how I intend to approach this blog. Before I kind of stuck to a few things and kept things professional. However, professional isn’t quite the way that I’ve EVER operated. Hell, Fuck is m favorite word in my vocabulary. You tell me where that’s professional?
With that said it’s changed the way that I do THIS blog. If you haven’t noticed by some of the post that I’ve already published, you’ll notice that I’ve abandoned the idea that I have to be COMPLETELY professional. Instead, I need to aim to just let the world see who I am not only as a person but as a writer.
I realized that after listening to, and learning a lot from the guys over at Sterling and Stone and the Self-Publishing Podcast. I’ve learned that I don’t have to be completely politically correct and I can say what I feel and what I like because well, fuck it it’s my blog.
As the title of this post states I’m learning as I go. That’s one thing I love about this business of writing is that you must constantly learn, evolve, and be willing to revamp the way you do things. Because of all of that, you have the ability to have a career that never goes stale, and the idea is that this blog is the same way.
Now mind you, I’m going to have some topics that are topical, some might not be. Some times, I might have two post a week, sometimes I won’t However, I’d like to be able to have consistent post that publish on Fridays so at the end of the day that’s my first goal.
That and to entertain you with said post. Otherwise, what’s the fucking point? Right! So with that said, I hope you have enjoyed this post be sure to join the mailing list and you’ll get a free copy of “Blackout” my breakout debut novella. Also be sure to join me on Facebook, and Twitter.
Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demon’s head, I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
