In The Demons’ Head: The Results Are In
December 9, 2017
Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of “In The Demons’ Head” Today we’re going to talk about results. Those results come in the form of doing an experiment through the month of November and a short time before that. Basically the idea was this, I was going to try and use my personal Facebook page as my author page as well. I thought that maybe this was a good idea but I realized after a few weeks of this practice that it didn’t warrant any real benefits. Read on below for the results that I uncovered during the study.

So before we get into what I did, lets get into why I did it. The idea was simple, I wanted to see if maybe my numbers would tick up for engagement if I were to share them on my personal page rather then share them on my Facebook page. The results were actually a little surprising to me. You see, while I did have some active engagements through the personal Facebook page it didn’t translate into real activity anywhere else in the atmosphere.
In fact, after only a couple of weeks I realized that while some would react to my post it never spurred comments or shares, or anything out of the ordinary. These were things that I did expect to see a slight upswing as I published them on my personal page but alas that wasn’t quite how it worked. Either way, I was surprised, and a little let down by some of these results. But that’s okay because I realize that there are perks to keeping yourself a public business page through Facebook versus using the personal Facebook page.
One of those advantages coincides with my goals for 2017 which I will discuss in a future blog post. That goal is to expand my advertising spending because as we all know, one of the most efficient ways to increase your reach is to advertise so that people see what your trying to sell, in this case it’s my books and my own personal brand. I haven’t set an actual amount of money I’d like to spend on advertising, but we’ll see how everything shakes out. Hopefully people get interested in the products I produce and that will help me get the word out through the cheapest form of advertising, word of mouth. But, it’s situations like that where it definitely pays to have something like a personal author page ready and available for people to search should they ever want to find you.
So in the end, the results are almost inconclusive. That’s because I want people to be engaged, but I don’t want to alienate others who might not want to friend, or follow me for one reason or another. So as of this writing, I will be going back to the Facebook page, and I will begin pushing trying to get some likes on the page and maybe some followers through Twitter.
With that said, I think I’ll go ahead and end this post for now. Remember that if you would like you can like me on Facebook, Follow me Twitter, and be sure to sign up for my mailing list. All of them would be appreciated, and if you liked this article, or found it entertaining or informative please give it a share. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell, and into the demons’ head, I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
