In The Demons’ Head: What’s the Matter With Offensive Material
May 26, 2017
Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of “In The Demons’ Head” it’s been a little while since I’ve written a post for this blog but that’s just because I’ve been super busy. I wanted to write these a couple weeks ago but everything kinda fell apart and I didn’t get a chance to get it all together. But today I’m returning with a new subject material where I’m talking about one of my favorite things, Offensive Material.

Now before I start, I want to explain exactly what I classify what Offensive Material is. I don’t mean post that scream “Fuck” at every other corner, or things that talk about stuff that could be considered bad. What I mean is actual works that detail offensive things, like Rape, Child Danger, or things the like. Now, there are tons of novels that have this kind of material and they are deemed to be great works of art. Here’s where the issue comes in, nowadays people are pansies. They want to be offended and pissed off by everything and everyone who might have a different thought then them, or might approach things differently then they do.
It’s created this complete rash world of people who have lost their minds and are offended by even the tiniest thing that might be a bit out of the ordinary. It’s lead to us creating a group of readers who haven’t been completely desensitized to the world around us and when they read some kind of material that could be deemed offensive, well it leads us to be angry and upset and thus give these kinds of novels bad reviews, or talk about them negatively. I for one am sick of this bullshit.
I’ve written all kinds of stories in the years that I’ve done this. I’ve written abuse stories, stories that had miscarriages, rape, and child abduction stories, if it deemed to be a story I wrote it. I didn’t care about the backlash and controversy that surrounded them. Now I know that some might disagree with that because of the fact that I’m striving to make a living writing for those who want to read but I think that’s the difference.
If people found the stuff that I wrote too offensive or controversial then I get it, my work isn’t for them. One thing I’ve always rang true to is that I would always tell the story that was determined to be told, no matter how uncomfortable it would make some. With that said I’d like to go on record and mention that I will continue to write these stories, no matter where they go because I feel they are stories that not only are good, but are worth telling.
So if you’ve got a problem with potential offensive material then I’m sorry, maybe my work isn’t for you. If you don’t feel that a story or work of fiction will bother you then I hope that you stick around and get to read some of my work going forward.
But for now this blog post is coming to a close, thank you guys for taking a read and until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demons’ head, I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
