May 30, 2017
Hello everyone, I hope that today finds you’re enjoying some sunshine as we reach toward the end of May. It’s hard to think that the year is already halfway over. Life is strange when the world spins around you. But, you didn’t come to this blog for that philosophical shit, nope, you came here to read about some pro-wrestling. So with that said let me introduce this weeks’ topic, Baron Corbin.
Then from there Corbin found himself in the top of the pack for a few months including two WWE Championship matches and participation in the Elimination Chamber match. Now, even though Corbin hasn’t managed to win a singles title yet, I believe that after his feud with Dean, he really came into his own. In fact a lot of people pegged Corbin to walk out of Mania with the IC title and I was one of them, but it wasn’t to be. But now the question remains, where does the lone wolf go from here?
That question I feel can be answered by looking at the current landscape of WWE. You have a champion in Randy Orton who doesn’t look to be losing anytime soon. He’s the babyface that no one really cares for, and Corbin is the up and coming hungry challenger. After seeing his matches I think Corbin can really be a big deal in this company if they choose to book him properly. The rumor running around right now is that Corbin is set up for a major push this summer.
It’s hard telling what that actually means but one would have to assume that maybe they crown Corbin as the WWE World Champion at Summerslam in August if that’s the route that they decide to go. The positive side to this is that they will once again create another massive star that the fans can go crazy over. As I said in last weeks’ post, Smackdown does something very well that it’s Raw counterpart is having trouble with, and that’s creating superstars.
If Corbin ends up going over at the biggest party of the summer and winning the WWE Championship, they will once again have found a way to create a superstar on the Smackdown roster and I’m all for more fish in the sea so to speak. We’ll have to see how the summer of 2017 plays out and if it will indeed be the summer of the Lone wolf, or does WWE have another star up their sleeve we’re not yet aware of.
Join me next week as I continue to look at some of the stars that WWE is actually doing well when I take a look at Braun Strowman, a man who was on a tear until an unexpected injury put him out of action. For now though, I’m Kyle Robinson closing the book on this subject.
