In The Demons’ Head: 2016- A Year In Review
December 30, 2016
Hello everyone and welcome to my year end review on New Years Eve, Eve. It’s hard to think that tomorrow I turn 26 and thus mark almost 4 years as a writer. But, let’s be honest, it’s not been one of those great upheavals that you’d read about. In fact, the last four years have been a weird steady climb as I continue to work toward achieving my goal of being a full time writer. Let’s take a look at some of the things that I managed to accomplish in 2016.

I Wrote 3 Novels
I managed to write 3 new novels this year. The first was the completion of a series that won’t see the light of day anytime soon, but the other two are actually geared up and one of them will launch as my debut novel in 2017. The other one will follow suit later on in the year of 2017.
I Found My Community
Earlier this year I discovered a wonderful podcast entitled “The Self-Publishing Podcast” The show is ran by three great authors who are using their knowledge and time in the business to help guide those of us who don’t have a fucking clue what we’re doing. I’m still kind of one of those people so it’s nice to have a helping hand that will guide me forward as I reach for my goals in the years to come. Those three men also founded a group called “The Smarter Artist” and I’ve found myself in that group which has lead me to a number of people who I now communicate regularly which is fantastic. I look forward to increasing not only those relationships but to cultivate more of them as I move forward.
I Managed to Navigate and Plan For The Future
Life is funny, as a lot of people tend to live for the moment with little foresight into the future. I lived that way for quite some time. However, after realizing that it wasn’t working, I decided a change of approach was in order. That’s why earlier this month I created a goal list for 2017. That goal list includes publication of 3 novels, a Couple of collections, and a couple of novellas, I’m trying to build off my success and using what I learn to slowly shape myself upward to find the right audience that wants to read my book, and enjoys the stories that I craft and create.
Optimizing my Former Catalog
Everyone has a beginning. Some care to shy away from it and others try and embrace it. That’s what I’m trying to do, because I realize I do have something to offer but I also realize that I’ve grown as a storyteller, and I intend to get better. So, I’ve decided that a lot of my “Origin” material is going to be made available in two separate collections, one of them for free, and one of them for 4.99 which includes all of the published work I’ve released in the last 3 years, they will be entitled “Origins of The Depraved Vol. 1 and Vol 2.” I’m excited for those to be crafted and made available in the first part of next year.
Started a Second Blog
Though post have been scarce from it as of late, I fully intend to release more post from the “Book It” blog, a wrestling themed blog that I started on my website toward the end of last year. I took a break from it during NaNo and fully intend to revamp it and begin again once the new year begins.
Final Thoughts
The end of the year brings about a lot of emotions for a lot of people, myself included. I mean after all I celebrate my birthday on New Years Eve, it’s almost like I see a reset directly in front of me every year and every year I’m not sure what to do with it. At the end of it all, you have to push forward. I read a quote earlier this year that said “Don’t judge those around you by where they are, either behind or ahead of you. We’re all on a clock, and if you’re not where you want to be it’s because it’s not your time.” While I don’t completely agree with that I do in some degree believe that you should continue to move forward, because it’s that constant movement that keeps you striving for better and a better tomorrow.
Ladies and Gentlemen, 2016 has been an interesting year. Marked for me with highs and lows. In 2017, let’s try and climb even higher then ever before. Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demons’ head I’m Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface. If you’re interested in following me on Facebook, Twitter, or signing up for my mailing list, please feel free to do so. Earlier this month I also released my first novel for Pre-Order. “LeatherBound” is a pulse-pounding supernatural thrill ride, and it set to be released exclusively on Amazon on January 23, 2017. Thank you guys and see you next year.
