In The Demon's Head #131: Long Haul
June 21, 2013
It's once again Friday. Good god the time is flying by at an alarming pace. I teased on Wednesday that there was an announcement centered around the mailing list. That is still a given, and I will put that at the end of the post today. It's not earth shattering by any means, but I do think that subscribers to the blog, and future subscribers will enjoy it. Enough on that though, let's take a look at today's picture:

Long Haul
It's been almost 10 hours since I've eaten,
Almost 36 since I've slept,
But I keep on,
If I slow down,
They will catch up to me,
And when you're carrying a truck,
Packed to the brim,
With Illegal things,
Of all kinds,
Then you're facing a long time,
Behind bars,
Do I know they're onto me?
No
But if they are,
I don't want to give them a chance,
To find me,
So I drive,
"In it for the Long Haul"
They said,
Before I got halfway,
To my destination,
And they told me what it was,
That I was carrying,
Guns,
Drugs,
And Illegals,
Destined to be laborers,
On the East,
I don't know why me,
But I continued to drive,
The sun went up,
And came down,
And I kept driving,
I was afraid to stop,
Then the epiphany hit me,
Walk away,
So I called it in,
I abandoned the truck,
And called the FBI,
On anonymous tip,
I watched them find the truck,
And hours later,
They hauled out 4 dead bodies,
And 20 others,
That looked on the boarder of starvation,
I felt free,
Though I couldn't explain it,
I watched the sunset on the docks,
And for the first time,
Since this all began,
I felt free,
And alive,
The sun sank behind the clouds,
And I walked down the dock,
Breathing in,
What felt like new air,
About the Piece
I'll admit this piece, can be confusing. Hell, it kind of confuses me. But it's worth it in the end. I enjoyed writing this piece, and I hope that you enjoyed reading it, even if it left you wondering. I'd love to read your comments in the section below. Leave a review of this, or any of my other pieces in the comments section. I'd love the feedback.
Today, instead of the normal spiel about connecting, and the Library, I'd like to share some news with you. In July, a new piece will become available special to those on the mailing list. This will be the first short story that I've put out for public read. It won't be horribly long, probably like 1,500-2,500 words. So instead of missing out, and getting it a day early, why don't you sign up for the mailing list now, with it you'll get the free piece "Pages" but when this new story goes up, "Pages" is gone forever.
Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell, and into the demon's head, I'm Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
